Roots Birth & Women’s Health
Erin Pence, CNM
Erin is originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, where she completed her nursing degree in 2012 (University of Virginia). Her first job after nursing school was at a small birth center in Texas, where she was introduced to midwifery care and fell in love with the field of women’s health. Following her time at the birth center, she worked as a hospice nurse, caring for people approaching a very different life transition. However, it wasn’t long before she was pulled back to birth work and began working as a birth doula, childbirth and breastfeeding educator, and postpartum group facilitator. She had her own babies in 2016 and 2019, which further cemented her desire to pursue a midwifery career. She graduated from Frontier Nursing University in January 2021 with her MSN. Erin loves working as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) at Roots, because it gives her the opportunity to provide quality, evidence-based care for women and girls throughout the lifespan. When she’s not working, Erin loves gardening, cooking, exploring trails by foot, bike, or ski, and camping with her family.
